As planned, members of the Hervey Bay Amateur Radio Club set up at the ‘new’ Burnett Heads lighthouse, for another very successful weekend. This lighthouse is designated AUS0104 and the club callsign VK4CHB/P was used from this location.
A few minor issues with equipment were quickly dealt with, and we were on the air. A total of 9 members from the club participated in the activation.
Many lighthouse stations were worked over the weekend, and plenty of home stations were keen to work lighthouse stations. A total of 94 contacts (utilizing the 20m and 40m bands) were made. Most lighthouse stations worked were VK and ZL, also one of note was 9M4LHM.
The weather was very good to us, with 25°C and sunshine, the full moon on the first night was very special. The sound of wind in the casuarinas helped everyone sleep.
Thanks to the club members and partners, it was a great weekend. Thanks also to all that came up on air to say hi. Thanks to our friends from Bundaberg who dropped in for a look at our setup and have a bit of a rag-chew.
Until next time, 73.
Thanks go to;
- Steve (VK4KUS) for the information and
- Wayne (VK4EU) for the photos.
